Manchester United and Brazil winger Antony has penned an emotional farewell message to Real Betis following the expiration of his successful half season loan with the UEFA Europa Conference League finalists.
A sad end to a fantastic loan spell
Antony arrived at Real Betis on loan in the January transfer window after failing to stamp his mark at Manchester United under both former manager Erik ten Hag and current boss Ruben Amorim.
Following his arrival at Betis, the young Brazilian winger became a revelation under former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini’s tutelage. Antony helped Betis, who sat in 12th position on the La Liga standings prior to his arrival, to a 6th place finish after contributing five goals and two assists in 17 La Liga appearances.
He also notched four goals and three assists as Real Betis battled their way to the Europa Conference League final where they eventually suffered a brutal 4-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea despite holding a 1-0 lead at half time.

Antony’s message to Real Betis
As he gets set to return to Manchester United, Antony took to social media platform Instagram to say his goodbyes; “Today is the day to thank one of the most beautiful chapters of my life,” the former Ajax star wrote.
“From the first step into this club, I felt something different. It was like coming home, like finding a piece of myself that I thought I had lost. With you, I started to smile again.
“Thank you for welcoming me as one of your own, thank you for giving me back the joy of playing football and thank you for reminding me why I fell in love with the game. My home, my people, thank you so much.”
What next for Antony
With talks of a permanent switch to Betis cooled in recent weeks, Antony’s future remains uncertain. A reintegration into Amorim’s United looks far from likely as the Brazilian is not naturally suited to the Portuguese gaffer’s style of play.
