Nigeria forward Rinsola Babajide is confident of success ahead of the 2025 edition of the Women’s African Cup of Nations.
The continental event will commence later this week, with Morocco set to host the tournament for a second consecutive time.
The Super Falcons have enjoyed unprecedented success in the competition’s history, although they finished fourth at the 2022 edition, with South Africa claiming a first-ever title win.
Babajide, who switched allegiance from England to Nigeria in 2023, is ready to deliver victory for the country as she prepares to make her debut at the biennial tournament.
“It’s a very honourable feeling, I’m so privileged to be here. Whenever I’m able to put on the badge, I just feel honour and pride, so I’m excited to get started”, she stated.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a stellar campaign at her club side, UD Tenerife in the Spanish division, contributing 10 goals and five assists in all competitions last season.
The former Liverpool forward will battle other experienced names for a spot in the starting eleven with the likes of veteran Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega, Esther Okoronkwo and Ifeoma Onumonu, also in the Nigerian squad.

“My personal goal is to make my debut and I wanna contribute as much as I can to the team’s winnings, goals, assists, and I really wanna win my first senior silverware”, Babajide added.
Nigeria recorded impressive results in their preparation for the tournament. First, they drew goalless with Portugal, before recording a convincing 3-1 win over rivals Ghana.
The Super Falcons will begin their Group B campaign against Tunisia on the 6th of July before playing their second group game against Botswana four days later. They round off the group stage with a game against Algeria on the 13th of July.
