Brentford have reached a club record £42 million agreement to bring Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth.
Over the past 72 hours, the clubs have had heated talks although the Cherries first resisted selling.
Ouattara, though, made it plain he wanted to leave, therefore making Bournemouth take a fee they thought fit his market value. The agreement includes add-ons.
This trade will top The Bees’ previous £30 million spent for Igor Thiago from Club Brugge last summer.
The 23-year-old joined Bournemouth from Lorient in January 2023. In 88 matches at the Vitality Stadium, he has 11 goals.
Boscombe are already looking on replacements as Bayer Leverkusen’s Amine Adli is high on their list of targets.
