Mikel Arteta and Arsenal travel to Craven Cottage for their clash versus Fulham as Premier League table toppers but the Spanish boss has warned his team against losing the focus and desire they’ve shown so far this season.
Arsenal have been the strongest team in the Premier League so far, recording five wins, one draw and one defeat from their first seven games of the season.
Their last Premier League match before the international break produced a 2-0 victory over fellow Londoners West Ham United. Interestingly, that game was Arteta’s 300th game in charge of the Gunners.
With the international break now over and club football set to return, Arteta and his men face a crucial test against another London rival in Fulham and the Spanish tactician is expecting his team to build on the already existing momentum.
“I’m very proud, [300] is a big number for this football club. I want to thank everybody, especially my coaching staff who have been with me since day one,” the Spaniard said.
“I wanted to celebrate it with a win, I’ve got it. Now we have to prepare well during the international break because what’s coming before the next break is going to be really difficult again.
“We’ve had to adjust a lot of things with some players who were coming as well from big injuries and surgeries in the first few weeks of the season.
“So it’s been a challenge but the team has been, I think, very convincing in performances and results and it’s a good platform now to continue.”
Fulham coming off the back of two defeats will be looking to end that disappointing run in front of their home fans. However, with what Arsenal have shown so far this season, Arteta will be confident his team can get the job done.
