Super Eagles forward Simon Moses is confident that Nigeria’s national football team will be among the teams representing Africa at the upcoming World Cup.
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations champions missed out on a place in the 2022 tournament after Ghana edged them out on away goals.
Now, a similar situation looms, as Nigeria currently sits fifth in the 2026 qualifying campaign following three draws against Lesotho, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, and a loss to Benin Republic.
Speaking to BBC Africa, the Nantes forward explained that the team’s current players were not involved in those previous disappointing results.
However, the former KAA Gent player believes that the team now has everything needed to secure the crucial victories required for qualification.
“We have the quality; we have what it takes to win. We don’t believe we’re not going to the World Cup. During the last qualifying games, we missed key players, and I believe they’ll be available next year to help the team,” he said.
Nigeria will face group leaders Rwanda in their next World Cup qualifier, hoping to make a positive push toward securing a spot in the tournament.
The former Levante winger who currently has 2 goals and three assists for Nantes in Ligue 1 will be hoping to help the team secure their World Cup ticket.
