Manchester City’s injury roster has gotten a new addition, as midfielder Matheus Nunes has been forced to withdraw from the Potugal squad due to an injury.
The past six weeks have been dreadful for Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola as most of his first team players have sustained injuries.
There have been injuries to Jack Grealish, John Stones, Ruben Dias, and Jeremy Doku. The worst of the lot is Rodri, who sustained an anterior cruciate ligament, which has effectively ruled him out of the campaign.
Due to their injury woes, Manchester City have lost their last four games in all competitions. However, it does not seem things will get better for the Cityzens any time soon
This is as Portuguese midfielder Nunes has sustained an injury. According to Sport Witness, the Portuguese football association announced that the 26-year-old midfielder withdrew from the squad as he felt some discomfort after Manchester City’s loss to Brighton on Saturday.
It is another big blow for Guardiola, as Nunes has been getting a lot of playing time in the past three weeks due to the injury problems at City.
Nonetheless, Nunes’ injury is not too serious, as the two weeks duration of the international break should be enough for him to recover.
Manchester have a run of difficult fixtures after the international break, with Tottenham, Liverpool, Feyenoord, Nottingham Forest, and Crystal Palace all lined up. They currently sit second in the Premier League, five points behind leaders Liverpool. If they drop more points, they could have to say goodbye to the league title.
