Barcelona official Enric Masip has revealed that that they received an offer of €250 million for teenage sensation Lamine Yamal.
Yamal has lit up the football world with his eye-catching displays for Barcelona for the past two seasons. The winger also shone at the 2024 Euros, propelling Spain to the trophy.
This season, the 17-year-old forward has registered six goals and eight assists in 16 appearances for the Blaugrana. His performances have been key to their brilliance this season.
However, Yamal’s destiny could easily have been elsewhere. According to reports from ESPN, Barcelona chief Enric Masip revealed in an interview that a French club made a bid of €250 million for Yamal during the summer transfer window.
However, he stated that the club rejected the bid. Now, it is believed that it was Ligue 1 champions PSG. This is because they are one of the few clubs in the world that could dish out that kind of money for a player. Recall that they paid Barcelona over €220 million to acquire Neymar’s services in 2017.
Nonetheless, PSG have reportedly distanced themselves from the news. The club have been undergoing a rebuild since last season when Luis Enrique joined them. They have let go of some big players like Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappe and focused on younger players, who have shown potential.
For Barcelona, Yamal is their biggest asset at the moment. The club is rebuilding after struggling for the past six years. Whatever the fee is, it is highly unlikely that they will let him leave anytime soon.
