NPFL: Lobi Stars reappoint Babaganaru as head coach

Nigeria Premier Football League side Lobi Stars have confirmed the appointment of Mohammed Babaganaru as their interim head coach.

The former Wikki Tourists head coach who rejoins the club for a second stint in charge after previously being at the helms of affairs in the 2022-23 season, takes over from former Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Amokachi who left his role earlier this month due to personal reasons.

“Everything we do at the moment is for the good of our beloved club. While we welcome criticisms, they should be constructive and aimed at enhancing our performance. Let us remain steadfast in our support, knowing that with God, nothing is impossible”, Lobi Stars chairman Philip Nongu stated after the appointment.

Babaganaru will take charge of the team until the end of the season and is tasked with saving the team from relegation, as they are currently rooted to the bottom of the standings with 23 points from their opening 25 games, five points behind Plateau United in 16th.

The Pride of Benue have won five times in the league this season, drawn eight times while they have suffered twelve losses, including just one win in their last ten league matches.

Babaganaru will be in-charge of his first game back at the club on Wednesday, when Lobi Stars play host to Niger Tornadoes in a must-win encounter.
