Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has expressed delight after he was instrumental as his side defeated Trabzonspor 3-0 on Wednesday in the Turkish Cup final.
The Super Eagles striker scored twice to add to a first half goal by Baris Yilmaz as The Lions ended a six-year wait for Turkish Cup glory, with a convincing victory over their opponents.
Record-breaking night for Osimhen
The Nigerian forward has been hugely impressive since his loan move to the Turkish giants from Italian side Napoli last summer.
On Wednesday, Osimhen’s brace cemented his spot in Turkish league’s history as his brace moved him up to 35 goals for the season, to become the highest-scoring foreign player in a single season since Mario Jardel with 34, in the 2000-2001 season.

The former Lille striker also became the first foreign player to score twice in the Turkish Cup final for Galatasaray as they claimed an unprecedented 19th crown.
What Osimhen said
“I think the record is of course a great thing, but I would like to thank my teammates very much. Especially today, Yunus was very unifying,” Osimhen said.
“Goals make me happy, of course, but I want to reciprocate the support my teammates have given me since I came here with goals. I am very happy to score goals, but it is a separate pleasure for me to go down in the history of this great club. We will continue to fight until the end of the season.”
The 26-year old has had a stellar campaign and is on course to claim the Turkish league golden boot as well as win the league title with his club.

“I really can’t stand it, they show me so much love. There is a fan base here that gives everything for the team. There is an incredible passion that I have never seen in my career,” he continued.
What next for Osimhen?
Attention turns to the Turkish league where Galatasaray are poised for a domestic double as they currently hold a eight-point gap over second-placed Fenerbahce with three games remaining.
Osimhen’s future is also a topic of discussion at the end of the season, with the Nigerian international attracting interest from top European clubs in the world.
