Real Madrid’s Garcia relishing dream Club World Cup opportunity

Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Garcia has revealed he feels privileged to play for the club after his brilliant start to life at the Club World Cup.

Garcia, 21, is joint top-scorer at the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup in the United States along with Al-Hilal’s Marcos Leonardo and Benfica’s Angel Di Maria on four goals.

The Real Madrid youth team forward opened his account against Al-Hilal in the group stage before scoring a goal each against Salzburg, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.

The young striker who has earned comparisons to Spanish legend Raul, has revealed his hunger for more success with the team.

Garcia said; “They [fans] are comparing me with Raúl, a legend. If I can do half of what he did in this shirt then it will be more than a dream.

I have been working, waiting for a chance, but not in my dreams would I have thought of this”, he continued.

“I don’t feel a lot of pressure, I have been working and waiting for this moment.

The coach, the players, the staff all give me a lot of confidence. Kylian [Mbappé] is… almost … let’s say the best player in the world. I feel so lucky to share a pitch and training with him, to learn from him”, the 21-year-old added.

Real Madrid face European champions Paris Saint Germain on Wednesday in the last four of the competition, with the winner going on to face either Chelsea or Fluminense in the final.
