Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique has praised the team’s gritty derby victory over Paris FC in 2026 Ligue 1 encounter at Parc des Princes.
PSG had to dig deep at home, yet they still crossed the finish line first.
A 2–1 derby victory over The Parisians on matchday 17 wasn’t always smooth, but it was exactly the type of result title-chasing teams must secure when the pressure increases.
After the final whistle, Enrique broke down the performance with a mixture of honesty and quiet satisfaction.
The PSG boss loved the way his side came out of the blocks and tried to play on the front foot.
“We came back to the Parc, with a victory!” The gaffer said. “We saw how difficult this match was.
“In my opinion we had a very good first half with lots of opportunities. We had lots of chances to score, I think, more goals.
“In the second half, it was more difficult and we had some problems.”
He added: “But in the end, we have to be happy because these are three important points.”
And just like a coach used to fighting on multiple fronts, the Spanish tactician quickly turned the conversation toward bigger ambitions.
He made it clear that the standard at PSG remains sky-high and will stay that way moving into the new year.
“I hope we win as many trophies in 2026.
“That’s our goal, which is ambitious, of course, but I think that everyone in this team, club, and our supporters are ambitious too.”
The manager concluded: “We want to win trophies and that’s what we’re going to try to do.”
So, while this was not the most dazzling PSG performance of the season, it felt like the kind of victory champions collect along the way.
And as the campaign gathers pace, Enrique clearly believes his side still has another gear to hit.
