Semenyo signs off in style with winner for Bournemouth against Spurs

Manchester-City bound Antoine Semenyo grabbed the headlines with a late winner as Bournemouth sealed a 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur in a pulsating affair on Wednesday night.

The Cityzens had triggered a £65 million release clause for the Ghana winger, who capped his final appearance for the Cherries with a goal on his birthday.

Andoni Iraola’s men started rhe season remarkably well, but had dropped off in recent weeks and were winless in their last 11 matches.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been inconsistent, recording a single win in their last five matches as Thomas Frank came under pressure.

Mathys Tel gave the visitors an early lead inside five minutes after his deflected effort went past Petrovic and marked his side’s first open play goal in six matches.

Bournemouth equalized in the 22nd minute after Evanilson guided a header into the net past Vicario from a superb cross by Marcus Tavernier.

The hosts completed the comeback 14 minutes later as Kroupi, who netted for a second consecutive match after his stunning goal in their last match against Arsenal, found the back of the net to put his side in the lead heading into the break.

Richarlison came close to pulling Spurs back on level terms when his header hit the post, before Palhinha spectacularly turned in an effort later to make the scoreline 2-2.

Both sides pushed for the winner, but the visitors went closest through Van de Ven, although the defender’s header was kept out hangout.

However, Semenyo enjoyed a fairytale end to his career at the South Coast with the winner in stoppage-time, before coming off to a standing ovation minutes later.

Bournemouth are now 15th on the Premier League standings, while Tottenham Hotspur are just a place above them in 14th.
