Real Madrid promote Arbeloa as new first-team head coach

Real Madrid CF have confirmed the appointment of Alvaro Arbeloa as the club’s new first-team head coach, continuing a clear pathway from the academy to the senior side.

Arbeloa steps up after serving as manager of Real Madrid Castilla since June 2025 and brings with him extensive experience from within the club’s youth system.

His coaching journey at Valdebebas began in 2020, where he led Infantil A during the 2020/21 season and won the league title.

He then took charge of Cadete A in 2021/22 before moving on to Juvenil A, a role he held from 2022 to 2025.

During his time with Juvenil A, Arbeloa oversaw one of the most successful periods at youth level. The highlight came in the 2022/23 season when his side completed a treble, lifting the League title, Copa del Rey and Champions Cup.

He later added another league crown in the 2024/25 campaign, further strengthening his credentials within the club’s sporting structure.

His promotion to the first team also reflects a deep-rooted connection to Real Madrid forged during his playing career.

Arbeloa represented the club between 2009 and 2016, making 238 official appearances during a highly successful era.

In that period, he won eight major honours, including two UEFA Champions League titles, one FIFA Club World Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, one La Liga title, two Copa del Rey trophies and one Spanish Super Cup.

On the international stage, Arbeloa was part of Spain’s golden generation. He earned 56 caps and played his role in a historic run that saw Spain lift the 2010 FIFA World Cup, as well as the European Championships in 2008 and 2012.

With his deep understanding of the club’s philosophy and a proven track record across multiple age groups, Arbeloa now takes charge of the first team as Real Madrid look to build continuity between their academy success and senior ambitions.
