Rohl hails Rangers’ Europa League victory over Ludogorets at Ibrox

Danny Rohl was full of praise for his Rangers side after they edged past Ludogorets to secure a crucial 1-0 victory at Ibrox.

The result not only delivered their first win of the Europa League league phase but also extended an impressive run to seven consecutive wins in all competitions.

On a night where patience and control were required, Mohamed Diomande’s first-half strike proved decisive.

From there, Rangers stayed disciplined, managed key moments and defended resolutely to finally get off the mark in Europe after several near-misses earlier in the campaign.

Speaking after the final whistle, Rohl highlighted both the positives and the standards he continues to demand from his squad.

“When you win 1-0 with a clean sheet, I think this is, in general, very positive,” said the manager. “The first win in Europe, we spoke about that we wanted to make this process forward.

“Now in the last three games against Braga we could win, away we should take minimum a point, and today we won, our first three points.

“Now it is seven wins in a row. I think this is fantastic, but our demands are higher.”

He added: “Especially in the second half, we showed some good situations and chances, but then we have to close the game earlier, two or three nil, then we would not have the situation against us.

“I think this is generally a part we have to improve; we have to use our chances.”

Despite that, Rohl remains satisfied with the broader picture, while already casting his eye ahead to another demanding fixture.

“All in all, at the moment I am happy with the process, but I know the following games are again tough.

“We can do more, it is not about 99 per cent, it is always about 100 per cent, and this is what we need, and this is the reason why we are at the moment in this situation with a lot of wins, and this is what I demand from my group again on Sunday.

“I think Jack [Butland] had a good save. We created some really good moments, especially second half.”

The gaffer continued: “We spoke at halftime about two things: adapting our pressing in the second half to be a little bit more aggressive.

“That was more of what I want to see, it was better than we spoke about. We want to come between the lines in the red zone.

“We created in these moments more and more chances that was great.”

Still, the message remains clear: progress must be matched with precision.

“Now it is about the final stages of the action in scoring more goals, but all in all I think the process at the moment is great and we should be happy for this, but also demanding, and this is the standard we want to see.”

As Rangers continue their upward curve domestically and in Europe, this hard-earned victory over Ludogorets could prove a turning point not just for points on the board, but for belief within Rohl’s evolving side.
