Hansi Flick pointed to Barcelona’s opening goal as the key moment that unlocked a commanding 3-0 victory over Real Oviedo at Spotify Camp Nou, as the Blaugrana grew into the contest and finished strongly.
After a testing opening period, Barca shifted gears, controlled the tempo and imposed themselves as the game wore on.
Reflecting on the performance, the German coach admitted the early stages were demanding, but was pleased with how his side responded once they found their breakthrough.
“I’m satisfied with the team, especially in the second half. The first half was harder for us,” Flick said.
With a packed schedule continuing to test his squad, Flick acknowledged the physical demands without leaning on them as excuses.
“Overall, we’ve had a big workload of matches and I don’t like to make excuses, but today, at the start, it was tough for us,” he pointed out.
However, once Dani Olmo broke the deadlock, Barcelona settled into their rhythm and began to express themselves with far greater fluency.
“The most important thing was scoring the first goal, because from then on we were able to play our game,” he added.
Flick also took time to single out individual contributions, starting with Olmo, whose influence has continued to grow in recent weeks.
“Olmo has improved a lot in recent matches. He’s capable of scoring goals, providing assists, and controlling the ball. That’s very important.”
Equally, the Barca boss highlighted the leadership and consistency shown by Eric Garcia, who has become a key figure within the squad this season.
“Eric is at an extremely high level. Wherever he plays, he performs well, and I’m very happy about that. He feels comfortable in the role of leader; he’s an important player.”
As the Blaugrana continue to navigate a demanding run of fixtures, Flick’s assessment underlined a familiar theme: resilience early on, followed by control, confidence and quality once the breakthrough arrives.
