Scotland to face Ivory Coast in latest World Cup warm-up friendly

Scotland have confirmed an exciting new fixture ahead of the World Cup, announcing that Steve Clarke’s side will face Ivory Coast at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium on March 31.

This clash follows their friendly against Japan on March 28 in Glasgow and precedes the Hampden Park farewell against Curacao on May 30, providing vital preparation for the squad before the tournament.

The match against the African quarter-finalists will mark the first-ever meeting between Scotland and Ivory Coast, adding a fresh challenge to the warm-up schedule.

Like Japan and Curacao, the Elephants have already secured their place at the World Cup, offering Scotland a high-quality opponent to test their readiness.

“We’re pleased to confirm Cote d’Ivoire as our second opponents for the March international window, following on from Japan’s visit to Glasgow,” Clarke said.

“We wanted to face African opposition before we play Morocco in the summer, and I’m sure Cote d’Ivoire will give us a really stern test.

“It will also be good to play at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool. The supporters will enjoy the opportunity to visit the new stadium.”

With the addition of an overseas friendly reportedly close to being finalised, Scotland’s squad will have a packed schedule of competitive matches designed to sharpen their tactical cohesion, boost confidence, and ensure they are fully prepared for the World Cup stage.
