Juve’s Spalletti sounds alarm after Bianconeri’s defeat to Galatasaray

Luciano Spalletti admitted his side took a step in the wrong direction after Juventus were left searching for answers following their UEFA Champions League clash with Galatasaray.

Speaking to the press after the final whistle, the Juventus head coach did not shy away from a blunt assessment of his team’s showing, conceding that the performance lacked the authority and control required on a night of such magnitude.

“Tonight, our personality dropped; we took three steps backwards,” Spalletti said.

“We failed to grasp the difficulty and danger of what we were doing.”

As the contest unfolded, Juventus struggled to impose themselves, and Spalletti highlighted how any dip in technical quality left his side exposed, particularly at the back, where margins in Europe are often unforgiving.

“If we fall short in terms of our playing quality, we’re always at risk defensively,” he added.

Despite the frustration, the Italian tactician stressed that the tie is far from over, with the focus now firmly shifting toward reflection and response ahead of the return leg.

“We’ll try to do a proper analysis ahead of the return match.”

With the second leg looming, Juventus know they must quickly rediscover their edge if they are to wrestle back control of the tie and keep their Champions League ambitions alive.
