Daniel Farke walked away from Merseyside encouraged, as Leeds United claimed a hard-earned 1-1 draw against Everton and continued their steady accumulation of points on the road.
The Leeds boss felt his side delivered another strong performance, especially in the opening exchanges, and deserved credit for their control away from home.
The Whites made a bright start and dictated the tempo early on, but James Justin’s first Premier League goal briefly put Everton in front.
However, Leeds responded after the restart, with a well-worked second-half effort restoring parity and ensuring the spoils were shared at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Speaking after the final whistle, Farke was full of praise for his players’ application and composure, particularly before the break.
“Overall, a really good result for us here on the road to travel away with one point after also an impressive result in the last game,” he told the media.
“First half was outstanding. One of the best away performances we have shown I think, very dominant. We didn’t allow any chances and were a bit unlucky that we couldn’t capitalise even more because we had so many good situations.
“Everton is a top side and well managed side. They have so much quality also on the bench and it was clear that at some point in the second half they would show up.”
Farke added: “I still got the feeling that we were controlling the game also against the ball with less possession but we didn’t allow too many chances.
“We were pretty close to win this game but it was not to be and we also have to respect their quality. It is a tough place and for that we take the point and move on.
“Again slightly disappointed that we didn’t win all three points because it was possible today but nevertheless I have to give compliments to the lads.
“I have to say that it is a good result on the road. We move one point closer and with this game we should be really content.”
As the Premier League campaign gathers pace, Leeds will look to build on this performance and turn strong displays into maximum returns in the weeks ahead.
