Fresh details have now emerged regarding Boubacar Kamara’s injury, with Aston Villa facing a major setback in midfield as the Frenchman has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
According to The Athletic, Kamara suffered a tear of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) in his left knee during Villa’s FA Cup victory over Tottenham Hotspur back in January.
At the time, the club initially played it down, suggesting the midfielder would be sidelined for just two to three weeks.
However, as the season progressed, it became clear the issue was more serious. Kamara has since undergone knee surgery, a move that has effectively ended his campaign and dealt a blow to Unai Emery’s plans during a crucial run-in.
Importantly, the injury is not linked to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture Kamara suffered in 2024, easing concerns over a recurrence of that long-term setback.
Nevertheless, losing the 25-year-old for the rest of the season removes a key presence from Villa’s engine room, especially as they continue to push on multiple fronts.
Villa will now be focused on Kamara’s rehabilitation, with hopes that the midfielder can return stronger ahead of the new campaign, while the squad rallies to cover his absence during the closing stages of the season.
