Ibrahima Konate backs Liverpool to return to top form

Ibrahima Konate remains confident that Liverpool will rediscover their form despite a challenging campaign so far this season.

The Reds have endured a difficult campaign and are set to lose out on their Premier League title to either Arsenal or Manchester City, leaving only the FA Cup and the Champions League as their only realistic path to win a major trophy this season.

The six-time European champions also suffered defeat in the Community Shield to Crystal Palace earlier in the campaign and are desperate to salvage their season by qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Speaking in an interview, Konate has backed the club to return to top form ahead of next season and continue their challenge for top honours.

“We bring new players, we will adapt, we will try to understand each other and at a point, with time, we will win a trophy,” Konate said.

“We will have success and when we win the Premier League or Champions League, people will forget every bad season we had because now we won the league last season.”

Konate’s contractual situation at Liverpool remains uncertain, although his latest admission could have given the club a boost over an extension.

The French defender has been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid this summer, while Bayern Munich are also interested, although if talks progress, he will be expected to stay at the Reds at least beyond this summer.

“This is just part of the success and we have to be relaxed because we have amazing fans, we have to stay together, and the success will come for sure”, Konate concluded.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will be back in action this weekend when they face Manchester City, fresh off their EFL Cup triumph over Arsenal, in the FA Cup quarterfinals, hoping for a win to keep their hopes of winning a trophy alive.
