Bukayo Saka signs new long-term contract at Arsenal

Bukayo Saka has agreed a new five-year contract at Premier League club Arsenal until 2031, making him the highest-paid player at the club.

The England forward’s previous deal was set to expire in the summer of 2027, but he has now penned an extension, committing his future to the club.

The 24-year-old is a product of the Hale End Academy which he joined at the age of seven and has developed into a key member of the squad under Mikel Arteta, with more minutes than any other player since the Spaniard’s arrival in 2019.

Saka began his senior career at the left-back position, before he was integrated into the right wing where he has become one of the best in the world in that position.

The England international made his first team debut in 2018 and has scored 77 times from 296 appearances for the Gunners across all competitions.

His new deal will see him earn in the excess of £300,000 per week, which currently stands as the highest at the North London club.

Saka will now maintain his focus on helping Arsenal win silverware at the end of the season, as they are currently competing on all four fronts.

The Gunners hold a four-point gap over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League and have the chance to increase the lead to seven, when they face Wolves later on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, they have also qualified for the final of the EFL Cup and will face the Cityzens on March 22, while they are all so still competing in the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.

The 24-year-old has also scored 14 times for England and will be targeting a key role under Thomas Tuchel at the upcoming World Cup as the Three Lions target a first major trophy since 1966.

Arsenal have also been able to tie down several other key players to long-term contracts, including the likes of William Saliba, Gabriel Malgahaes, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
