Jadon Sancho has admitted the mood is upbeat around Bodymoor Heath as Aston Villa gear up for their return to Villa Park this weekend.
The Villans resume Premier League action on Saturday afternoon with a home clash against Leeds United, managed by Daniel Farke, and Sancho is braced for a demanding contest.
However, momentum and home support are giving Villa confidence as they look to push on during the business end of the season.
“The camp is excited,” he said. “We can’t wait to be in front of our fans again.
“I love playing in front of the home fans. They get behind us a lot, and they support us to the end.
“We’ve got a big game against Leeds coming up, so we’re looking forward to it.
“Again, another tough opponent, but again, if we stick to our gameplan (and) play how we play, I’m sure we can get another result.”
Since the turn of the year, Sancho has become an increasingly important figure in claret and blue, starting each of Villa’s last five league matches.
With backing from head coach Unai Emery, the 25-year-old feels settled and confident as Villa aim to finish the campaign strongly.
“When you have a manager that back to you, you go into training with a lot more confidence, and obviously matchdays,” he said.
“So, I’m just happy that I’m playing, and hopefully I can help the team throughout the season.”
Sancho also highlighted Villa’s impressive league position, while stressing that focus and consistency remain crucial as the run-in approaches.
“Being third in the Premier League, it’s not a bad position to be in.
“I think the team, from where we began to where we are now, is an amazing job, but again, (the) job’s not finished, so we’ve got to carry on each game.”
