Beto praises Everton support after crucial victory over Newcastle United

Beto struck the right tone after helping Everton to a statement 3-2 victory away at Newcastle United, hailing the result as a “really important” response and saluting the travelling support for their role in the triumph.

The Toffees showed character at St James’ Park, bouncing back in style from their previous defeat to Manchester United as Beto found the net and played a leading role in a hard-fought Premier League contest.

The win marked Everton’s seventh away success of the 2025/26 campaign, underlining the growing belief within David Moyes’ side.

Reflecting on the performance, the striker was clear about what the result meant.

“It’s really important to us to give this answer after the last game,” he told evertontv. “I’m just happy to help the team and win. Three points is the most important thing.

“It felt really good because I didn’t start for quite a while and today, I started and I needed to give an answer, like [with my] performance.

“I should have scored that [one chance] because I didn’t know if the ball was out or not, but I needed to score. It’s my job. It’s the work, it’s football, and I need to keep going.”

Beto’s goal was his fourth in the Premier League this season, and his celebration carried a personal message.

He held up the number 24 in support of injured teammate Charly Alcaraz, explaining the moment afterward.

“[It was] for Charly, because Charly is a little bit injured,” explained the striker. “He told me, ‘Tomorrow you’re going to play, and if you score one goal, just do the 24′.

“It was for him. He’s one of my best friends in the team. He’s my guy. I just want to wish him well.”

Making just his ninth league start of the season, Beto delivered a tireless display, lasting 74 minutes and winning 13 duels, more than any other player on the pitch.

Yet it was the backing from the Everton faithful that clearly left the biggest impression.

“It’s amazing. You know, for me, they support me so much. They see my effort and I just don’t want to let them down.

“I know sometimes I let them down, but yeah, it’s football. And today they showed again, even when I miss the opportunity, they kept singing my name and they’re amazing.

“They gave us support right after the loss against Man United and they are here like crazy.

“So, thank you for them [for travelling] and we give them this present, the three points.”

Attention now quickly turns to Everton’s next challenge, with Burnley visiting Hill Dickinson Stadium on Tuesday night. For Beto, the focus is simple.

“We need to keep on the same track because it’s going to be a different game and we need to keep the same mindset to go there and win,” he said.

“We need to start winning games at home and we’re going to work hard to win and for sure, we’re going to win. I trust my team.”
