Andy Robertson has hailed Mohamed Salah as the greatest player in Liverpool history, after it was confirmed that the Egyptian will leave the club at the end of the season.
The Premier League champions announced the imminent departure of the 33-year-old on Monday night, bringing an end to a hugely successful nine-year stay at the club.
Salah has scored 255 goals across all competitions so far for the Reds and holds multiple records, cementing his status as one of the all-time greats.
Robertson, who also joined Liverpool in 2017 and has been a teammate of the Egyptian since that time, praised the impact of the ‘legendary figure’ at the club.
“Mohamed, thank you”, Robertson began in a post on Instagram.
“Nine of the best years of our lives with amazing memories on and off the pitch. Watching you become the best at what you do and become one of the best to ever have worn the Liverpool shirt has been a joy to watch and be part of.”
Robertson could follow Salah out of the club at the end of the season, with his contract also up in the summer.
The Scotland international has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, while a return to Scotland to join Celtic is also another option.
“Your mentality is second to none and a lot of people could take note. You have pushed yourself every single day and always demanded more from yourself and others. A pleasure sharing the pitch with you for so long but even more so being able to call you a friend”, Robertson added.
“You deserve a send-off that reflects your status at LFC — the greatest. Second to none.”
Liverpool’s priority will now be to finish in a Champions League spot for next season, while they are also still in contention to win the FA Cup and the Champions League.
