Liverpool’s Wirtz inspires Germany in seven-goal thriller against Switzerland

Florian Wirtz delivered a masterclass performance as Germany edged Switzerland 4-3 in a pulsating friendly encounter in Basel, lighting up the contest with decisive contributions at every key moment.

From kickoff to the final whistle, the game flowed end-to-end, but it was Wirtz who dictated the tempo and ultimately made the difference.

The 22-year-old playmaker was involved in all four of Germany’s goals, showcasing both creativity and clinical finishing.

Germany had to respond early after falling behind to Dan Ndoye’s opener, but Wirtz quickly stepped up, providing the assist for Jonathan Tah to level the score.

As momentum swung, he again turned provider in first-half stoppage time, setting up Serge Gnabry to give Julian Nagelsmann’s side the advantage heading into the break.

After the restart, Wirtz shifted gears from creator to finisher, unleashing a stunning strike from the edge of the box to extend Germany’s lead.

However, Switzerland refused to back down, battling their way back into the contest and eventually leveling through Joel Monteiro to set up a tense finale.

Just when the match seemed poised for a draw, Wirtz produced the decisive moment once more, calmly finishing from the edge of the area to seal a dramatic victory for Germany.

As the dust settled on a seven-goal spectacle, Wirtz’s all-round display stood out as the defining factor, driving Germany forward and underlining his growing influence on the international stage.
