Harry Kane has hailed Bayern Munich’s performance after their entertaining win over Real Madrid to advance to the semifinal of the Champions League.
The Bundesliga champions recorded a hard-fought 4-3 win over nine-man Real Madrid, to record a 6-4 aggregate win and progress to the last four of the competition.
The game was evenly balanced until the 86th minute when substitute Eduardo Camavinga was sent off for a second caution, before Bayern scored twice in the final minutes of the game to seal the win.
Speaking after the match, Kane who scored twice over both legs for the German champions, was impressed with his side’s performance over both legs.
“What a special night. I mean, a crazy game, to be honest, and obviously, being a quarter-final, being a big game like it was, to have the ebbs and flows and the highs and lows throughout the first half, especially, was pretty unique”, Kane said.
Bayern Munich entered the clash with a 2-1 advantage from the first leg, but Manuel Neuer gifted Arda Guler an early chance after a poor pass, which the Turkish international took perfectly to level the tie on aggregate.
Aleksandar Pavlovic equalized almost immediately for Bayern Munich, before Guler grabbed his second of the game with a stunning free kick.
Kane then scored his 50th goal of the season as Bayern Munich equalized for a second time in the game.
However, Kylian Mbappe scored few minutes to halftime to level the tie on aggregate heading into the break.
Camavinga, who had come on in the 62nd minute received a second caution in the 86th minute, before Luis Diaz and Michael Olise scored to seal a 4-3 win for Bayern.
The German side will now face reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinal, with the first leg scheduled to hold later this month.
“One of the best in Europe for sure, reigning European champions for a reason,” Kane said about PSG.
“We obviously had a tough game against them earlier in the Champions League stages. So, yeah, we’ll expect an open game, a lot of man-for-man pressure, a lot of individual quality. Hopefully, we can come out on top”, he concluded.
