Everton have secured the future of Michael Keane with a one-year contract extension, keeping the centre-back at Goodison Park until the summer of 2027.
The experienced defender, who joined from Burnley in 2017, continues to be a consistent figure at the back.
Since arriving, Keane has racked up 259 appearances, with 223 of those coming in the Premier League: placing him joint-14th on the club’s all-time list.
Moreover, his attacking contribution from defence has also been notable, with 19 goals scored for the Toffees.
Alongside his club performances, Keane has earned 12 international caps for England national team, nine of which came during his time on Merseyside.
As the season unfolded, Keane remained a reliable presence under manager David Moyes.
He featured 30 times across all competitions, playing a vital role in Everton’s steady progress.
Consequently, his extension signals both continuity and trust as the club builds momentum.
Reflecting on his journey, Keane expressed deep emotional ties to the club.
“The club means a lot. It’s one of those things that’s easy to say, but it has become part of me,” he said.
“It’s who I am and it feels like family to me – the people around the club, the fans, the players, the staff. So it’s really special to me and I couldn’t really imagine my life without Everton.
“I think it’s been a great season for me personally. I’ve played a lot of football – probably more than I expected – and I feel like I’ve done well and I’ve absolutely loved it.”
As Everton push ahead into the coming seasons, Keane’s commitment adds stability at the back: an asset every team needs when aiming to climb higher up the table.
