“I saw a bright future”- Pep Guardiola admits despite Liverpool defeat

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted there is a bright future for the club despite Sunday’s 2-0 home loss to league leaders Liverpool in the English Premier League.

The Premier League champions have endured a disappointing season, and have lost three of their past four games in all competitions, including a first round playoffs elimination to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

The Cityzens started the game with three 20-year olds in the lineups and an average age of 24.7 years, with Guardiola favoring a youthful set-up over experience.

“I saw a bright future. Other than Kevin [De Bruyne] and Nathan [Ake], they are the future of this club in the next years, with others who will come in future windows”, Guardiola said.

“It was a good game. Tight game in the first half. First half it was more open and in the second half they defended very deep. They always have the threat but it is not easy to control it. Big compliment to them but I am very pleased with the way we play.”

Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai were both on the scoresheet for the Reds as they increased their lead at the top of the standings to eleven points over second-placed Arsenal having played a game more.
