Fulham manager Marco Silva has confirmed that Alex Iwobi will not be available for selection for Saturday’s clash with Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The Nigerian midfielder last played in the Cottagers’ 0-0 draw with Brentford, where he lasted only 43 minutes before he came off injured.
He has subsequently missed the win over Aston Villa and is now expected to also sit out this important clash against Arsenal.
Speaking ahead of the match, Silva also confirmed that the likes of Ryan Sessegnon and Kenny Tete will miss the clash, as well as Iwobi.
“Sessegnon is going to be out of the next game, and probably the one after will be the same story for him, and then we will have to assess him day by day. For the Arsenal game, for sure out. For the game after, for sure out”, the Fulham boss said.
“Alex [Iwobi] is out still, plus Kevin. Kenny [Tete], we will have to see how he reacts from the last two sessions. He can probably be involved in the game.
“We have some doubts on some players, but we will assess them tomorrow to see how they react from things that happened in the week”, Silva added.
Fulham face a very tough test ahead of them this weekend when they face the Gunners, as they need a win to remain in the chase for European qualification.
The last time they played in Europe was in the 2011-12 season and it would be a great gift from Silva to the club if they qualify, given the uncertainty over his future with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Fulham will then face games against Bournemouth, Wolves and Newcastle United and will be hoping to have Iwobi back before the end of the season.
