Jamie Carragher has ripped into Chelsea’s performance after their dismal run of form continued on Monday when they were defeated by Nottingham Forest.
The Blues suffered their sixth successive defeat in the Premier League and the eighth in their last 10 games across all competitions with the defeat to Forest.
It marked a new low in the club’s history and the players were booed off by their own supporters, with the club suffering more blow in their quest for Champions League football.
“It’s shocking and it comes from the top”, Carragher said.
“There’s five or six really top players on the pitch today and they’ve been beaten by Nottingham Forest’s B team. Less than 12 months ago, they were taking PSG to the cleaners.
“There’s no connection between the players and the staff, the players and the fans.”
Taiwo Awoniyi scored twice while Igor Jesus also added another from the spot to seal the victory for Nottingham Forest, moving them six points clear of the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Joao Pedro’s goal in stoppage-time marked the first time Chelsea has scored in their last six Premier League games and their first goal since the Brazilian scored in a 4-1 win over Aston Villa in March.
The Blues have also parted ways with Liam Rosenior during that period and are now set to miss out on the Champions League, with only the Europa League and Conference League their realistic route to Europe.
“In some ways, it’s a good thing because it tells you that football isn’t just all about spending money, buying players and this revolving door”, Carragher added.
“It’s about creating togetherness and there’s nothing there. They look like a broken football club right now.”
Chelsea will look to bounce back to winning ways and end their losing streak when they head to Liverpool on Saturday.
