Ryan Christie has signed a new three-year contract extension with Bournemouth, keeping the Scotland international at the club until the summer of 2029.
The midfielder’s new deal comes after a historic campaign for the Cherries, who secured European football and continue to build on their progress since returning to the Premier League.
Christie expressed his delight at committing his future to the club and believes the timing of the agreement is perfect ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
“It feels brilliant and I’m absolutely delighted. Especially after the way the season finished, it’s been such an incredible year for the club having qualified for Europe. I’m looking forward to next season already,” said Christie.
“With the World Cup coming up, it felt like the perfect time to sign before heading away for that, and now I can fully focus on the future.”
The 29-year-old joined Bournemouth with ambitions of helping the club reach the Premier League, and he has since played a key role in their rise and continued top-flight success.
Reflecting on his time on the south coast, Christie highlighted the incredible journey the club has experienced.
“When I joined the club, I obviously had aspirations to play in the Premier League and l strongly believed we could get promoted, but the journey we’ve been on since then has been incredible.
“I’ve been so fortunate to be part of it and to play so many games along the way. Since getting promoted, we’ve never really looked back. Five years on, to now be in this position signing a new contract, it’s really special.”
The Scotland midfielder will now turn his attention to the World Cup before returning to help the Cherries prepare for another ambitious season.
