Ayyoub Bouaddi has reaffirmed his commitment to Morocco’s World Cup campaign amid speculations over his future at Lille.
The 18-year-old has been in the headlines since the Atlas Lions’ 1-1 draw against Brazil in their opening group C World Cup clash.
Bouaddi was born in France and played for their youth teams, before he switched allegiances to Morocco in May.
He was then included in their final squad for the World Cup and went on to make his debut, delivering a masterclass performance in midfield against the five-time world champions.
Now, he has attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe, who are aiming to seal a deal to secure his services from Lille.
Speaking after the match, the 18-year-old revealed that he is very focused on the World Cup and his future will be decided after the tournament.
“For the moment, I’m only focused on the World Cup. I cannot answer this right now”, Bouaddi said.
“I am really happy to know that some clubs are interested in me, but for now, I’m here focused on the World Cup with Morocco and we will try to give everything to do our best.”
Morocco have one point so far in their group, while Scotland sit top of the standings after their narrow 1-0 win over Haiti in their own opening encounter.
The Atlas Lions face the European side in their second group game on Friday night and will be aiming to get off the mark at the tournament.
