Adams reveals Bournemouth’s winning formula after Sparta Prague triumph

Tyler Adams believes AFC Bournemouth’s ability to force opponents into costly mistakes has become a defining feature of their impressive winning run after the Cherries defeated Sparta Praha 3-1 in Prague.

The victory extended Bournemouth’s winning streak to seven matches, underlining the growing confidence and consistency within Andoni Iraola’s side. However, Adams was quick to acknowledge that the result came against a difficult opponent who tested the visitors with their organization, quality, and energy.

The United States midfielder admitted Bournemouth had to adjust after struggling to impose themselves during the opening stages. Sparta Praha started with intensity, making life uncomfortable for the Cherries, who initially found it difficult to maintain their preferred shape.

“They were obviously very well organised, with a lot of quality,” he said.

“I don’t want to say we weren’t ready for the game, but you could tell their energy. They do something different to start the game.”

Adams explained that Bournemouth were too stretched in the first half, leaving spaces they would normally look to avoid. Nevertheless, the midfielder was encouraged by how his teammates responded and gradually found ways to disrupt the hosts’ approach.

“First half, we were probably a little bit too stretched, more stretched than we’d like to be. That’s not our game plan,” he explained.

“We want to force the opposition into errors, and I think we were able to do that.”

That ability to turn defensive pressure into attacking opportunities has been central to Bournemouth’s recent success. Rather than simply allowing opponents to dictate the tempo, the Cherries have shown an increasing willingness to press aggressively, disrupt build-up play and capitalise on mistakes.

Adams also reserved praise for Evanilson, whose recent goalscoring performances have provided another major boost to Bournemouth’s attacking threat. The Brazilian forward has been in excellent form, but the midfielder insisted his finishing quality comes as little surprise to those who watch him work behind the scenes.

“He’s on fire right now, but you see him do it every day in training,” he said.

“He does extra work in finishing every single day after training, so for him to do it in a game is no surprise. He has so much quality.

“Whenever he gets in and around the box, we’re confident he’s going to find the back of the net.”

Despite the seven-match winning streak, Adams warned that Bournemouth cannot afford to become complacent. With fixtures arriving every three days, maintaining the same intensity and standards will be essential if they are to keep their momentum going.

“You can’t get too comfortable. You have to continue to hold that standard,” he said. “That winning mentality becomes continuous, especially when you’re playing every three days.”

The midfielder believes Bournemouth’s defensive improvement is another sign of their development, pointing to the discipline and collective responsibility that have become increasingly visible in their performances.

“I think we’ve been a more mature team as of late,” he said. “You can see the way that we defend, the way that we take pride in that mentality of making sure that we don’t give the opposition any room to breathe. It’s a great feeling.”

Adams also highlighted the competition for places within the squad as a major factor behind the team’s progress. According to him, the commitment shown by both regular starters and players waiting for opportunities has helped establish a demanding training environment.

“The team is working extremely hard every single day in training. The guys that aren’t playing are working hard and the guys that are playing are working hard,” he said.

“So there’s a lot of competition that breeds success on top of the team performance.”

With seven consecutive victories behind them, Bournemouth are building a strong identity around intensity, defensive discipline and collective ambition. Adams’ message, however, is clear: the challenge is no longer just to keep winning, but to maintain the standards that have made their remarkable run possible.
