AC Milan and United States Men’s National Team forward Christian Pulisic has opened up on his desire to enjoy a lengthy professional career at the highest level.
Pulisic is nowhere near the twilight of his career but he’s already drawing inspiration from six-time Champions League winner Luka Modric, who joined AC Milan from Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer.
The Ballon d’Or winning Croatian, already 40 years old, remains one of the best midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues and for Pulisic, this level of longevity is one he would like to have.
“I’m thinking like, 10 years down the line, I want to have a long career,” Pulisic said to Paramount+.
“I want to go as long [as I can]. I look at Luka in my locker room and this guy’s 40 and he’s putting in 10 out of 10 performances. I’m just wondering how he does it and I hope I can keep up.
“I definitely [think] I’m at a good age in my career, I feel at maybe my physical best, I feel I’ve learned a lot and I’m at a really good place.
“I always like to say ‘I hope my prime is the next year,’ because that’s always my goal. But if this is my prime, I want to enjoy it … I definitely feel like I’m playing some of my best football at the moment.”
The 27-year-old, who previously played for Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea, has already enjoyed a largely successful career having won 11 major trophies.
He’s won UEFA Champions League and Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, the DFB-Pokal, the Italian Super Cup and three CONCACAF Nations Leagues with the USMNT.
