Flick hails Barca’s mentality as Blaugrana cruise into Super Cup final

Hansi Flick has praised FC Barcelona’s growing confidence and cohesion after a dominant Spanish Super Cup semi-final win over Athletic Club secured a place in the final.

From the opening whistle to the final moments, the Blaugrana controlled the tempo, dominated possession and looked assured at both ends of the pitch.

Naturally, the convincing nature of the victory left Flick in high spirits. Reflecting on the display, the German tactician highlighted the attitude and focus shown by his players throughout the contest.

“I’m very happy with the work we’ve done” he said. “We played with a very good mentality and a great attitude, and I really liked the Barca I saw.”

As the match progressed, Barca remained switched on, never allowing Athletic Club a foothold in the game.

Flick was quick to point out the importance of maintaining concentration across the full 90 minutes.

“We were very connected and fully in the game for the full 90 minutes. We played well and in an enjoyable way … We played with confidence and managed the game well. It’s very good to see because it gives us a lot of confidence, although this was the semi-final, and the final will be a different chapter.”

That sense of unity and structure was evident across the pitch, with Barcelona well organised in possession and disciplined without the ball.

The tactician again stressed how positional awareness and togetherness reflected the quality within his squad.

“We were well positioned and I liked how connected we were. That shows the quality we have on the pitch, and I’m very satisfied.”

Just as impressive was the defensive display, which capped off a near-perfect night for the Catalans. The Spanish titans kept things tight at the back, limiting chances and securing another clean sheet: a point Flick was keen to underline.

“We’ve kept another clean sheet, which is very good. We produced a great team performance, and that’s the most important thing, both in attack and in defence.”

With the semi-final hurdle cleared, Barcelona now shift focus toward Sunday’s final, where they will look to carry this momentum forward, chase silverware, and further stamp Flick’s imprint on a side clearly growing in belief and balance.
