Spurs hit by Bentancur injury blow as midfield reinforcements move closer

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has undergone surgery on his right hamstring, dealing Thomas Frank an early setback as the club navigates a demanding run of fixtures.

Bentancur sustained the injury during Spurs’ Premier League clash away at Bournemouth last week, and following further assessment, surgery was deemed necessary.

The Uruguay international will now begin a structured recovery programme under the supervision of the club’s medical team as Spurs monitor his return to action.

“The Uruguay international midfielder suffered the injury during our Premier League fixture at Bournemouth last week and will now commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff,” the club said in an official statement.

While Bentancur’s absence leaves a notable gap in midfield, Spurs are already moving to strengthen their options.

In a timely boost, Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher is expected to fly into London on Tuesday to complete a medical ahead of a £34m switch to north London according to Sky Sports.

The England international’s arrival would provide added energy and depth in the middle of the park, easing the burden on Frank’s squad as the North London outfit looks to maintain momentum across domestic competitions.

As Bentancur focuses on recovery, attention now turns to how quickly new faces can be integrated, with Spurs aiming to keep their season on track despite the injury setback.
