Spalletti praises Juve grit after Kalulu’s late strike rescues Lazio draw

Juventus showed their fighting spirit on Serie A Matchday 24 as Pierre Kalulu’s dramatic 96th-minute goal secured a hard-earned 2-2 draw against Lazio at the Allianz Stadium.

The late twist capped a demanding night for the Bianconeri, who were forced to dig deep after finding themselves under pressure for long spells.

Speaking after the final whistle, Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti focused less on the scoreline and more on the character his side displayed when it mattered most.

“The lads played a great game, they turned around a very difficult result, they gave it their all,” Spalletti said, highlighting the team’s resilience.

“We have to take away the reaction that the team had, the performance they put in.

“When the situation becomes a little more difficult, you have to have the personality and clarity to think and make the right choices, without becoming too frantic. That’s what makes the difference.”

The gaffer added: “In football, the winner is the one who anticipates what is about to happen. You can’t just look at the first pass, you have to look beyond that.”

Kalulu’s stoppage-time intervention ensured Juventus avoided defeat and kept their momentum ticking over, with Spalletti clearly encouraged by the mindset and maturity his players showed under pressure.
