Andree Jeglertz was left glowing after watching his side deliver a devastating attacking display in a ruthless 6-0 victory over Leicester in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
City set the tone early and never eased off, storming into a four-goal lead by the interval.
Khadija Shaw and Yui Hasegawa struck either side of a clinical brace from Vivianne Miedema, leaving the visitors reeling at the break.
After the restart, the Blues continued to shift through the gears. Goals from Kerolin and Aoba Fujino put the finishing touches on a dominant performance that moved City 11 points clear at the top of the table, at least temporarily.
Reflecting on a night where everything clicked going forward, Jeglertz could barely hide his admiration for his team’s attacking fluency.
“Our attacking play was marvellous throughout the whole game. Fantastic,” he said.
“They challenged us a couple of times in the first half with some transition moments. We knew about that, but our attacking play and how we combine, how we create scoring chances [was excellent].
“Players coming into the game and continue to bring the energy. Wow. I’m really impressed and proud of the performance.”
The emphatic win preserved City’s perfect home record in the league and served as the ideal response to last weekend’s narrow defeat against Arsenal Women.
Yet even with the contest effectively settled by half-time, the head coach was particularly pleased by the relentless mindset on display.
“That has been, and we talked about it earlier, but that is something about this mentality that we are never pleased,” he added.
“We want something more all the time and that’s such an important thing for a team who wants to achieve something, to never be and settled down.
“Just finding new ways and also showing the quality of the squad that even if you take out players who have done a very good game and you bring in some other players and they keep on pushing the level.”
With 47 goals now scored in just 16 league matches, City’s attacking numbers continue to underline their title credentials, driven by a hunger that shows no sign of slowing.
