Igor Tudor dismisses sack talks after Tottenham’s defeat to Palace

Igor Tudor has maintained focus on helping Tottenham survive relegation and refused to comment on his future at the club after his winless start continued with a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Thursday.

The Croatian has now lost all of the three games he has managed since his appointment on interim basis to replace Thomas Frank in February, leading to doubts over his future at the club.

The club’s hierarchy are still searching for a suitable permanent manager in the summer, but Tudor’s performance so far would have ruled him out of the running.

Speaking after their latest defeat, the former Juventus boss revealed that his focus is on helping the club secure their top-flight status and is not bothered by talks of a dismissal.

“I don’t think in their direction, I have my job to do and that’s all,” Tudor said.

“Maybe it will sound strange but I believe more after this game than I believed before. I saw something.

“I need to choose the right guys because the boat is going in the direction that I want to go and needs to go and who is in the boat can stay.”

Tottenham’s poor league form continued after they suffered another 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in Thursday’s Premier League showdown.

Dominic Solanke gave them the lead in the first half, but Palace scored three times after Micky van de Ven was sent off for a foul on Ismaila Sarr.

The Senegalese bagged a brace, while club-record signing Jorgen Strand Larsen added another goal to seal the comfortable victory.

“When the other players come back, I’m sure we’ll have a good team and come back. It’s not easy to accept the moment we are in now”, Tudor concluded.

Tudor will be hoping to seal his first win at the club when Tottenham face Atletico Madrid in their next match on Tuesday in their first leg clash in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
