Le Bris calls for Sunderland’s improvement after defeat to Fulham

Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris has urged his side to improve on their performances amid their recent dip in form after suffering another defeat to Fulham on Sunday.

The Black Cats went down 3-1 to the Cottagers at the Stadium of Light, marking their second Premier League defeat at home this season.

It is now only one win from their last five league games, with defeats to West Ham, Arsenal, Liverpool and now Fulham, which has seen them drop to 12th on the standings with 36 points.

“In the Premier League, it is not unusual [to suffer a dip]. For us and every other team in the league. You can be in the top six and have a long sequence of poor results; we are now in this part of the journey”, Le Bris said after the defeat to Fulham on Sunday.

“Resilience, togetherness, consistency and standards – it is always the same values we need. It is a bit harder but the journey is always defined by key moments.”

Fulham, on the other hand, move into 10th position on the log after their win over Sunderland.

Raul Jimenez headed them in front in the second half from a brilliant corner kick delivery from Alex Iwobi.

The Mexican striker doubled the advantage from the penalty spot, continuing his 100 percent record from 12 yards in the league.

Enzo Le Fee briefly pulled one back for Sunderland with a penalty, giving them hopes of a comeback.

However, Iwobi struck a killer blow late in the game after a devastating counter attack, sealing a 3-1 win for the visitors.

“We will try to find a way to change the situation. The intention of the lads was positive but we struggled to find the right way to express it”, Le Bris concluded.

Sunderland return to action on Saturday against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, hoping to end their recent poor form.
