Senne Lammens hopes to achieve bigger things at Manchester United after another impressive display in Monday night Premier League’s 1-0 win over Everton.
The Belgian goalkeeper sealed a high-profile transfer to the club last summer from Royal Antwerp and has already produced a remarkable upgrade in goal on his predecessors.
He backed his impressive performances since his arrival with a man of the match display against the Toffees, as the Red Devils sealed a hard-fought 1-0 win to move back into fourth on the standings.
Lammens made four saves in the game, including a stunning late stop to deny a ferocious strike from Michael Keane and was commanding in his area, denying Everton’s threat from set-pieces.
“I just try to stay calm, play my own game, I know I have the qualities, I wouldn’t be here otherwise”, Lammens revealed after the match.
“So, [I] just believe in myself, the players around me and my teammates support me really much. Now I just keep on building, keep getting that confidence. Like today, getting those wins, feeling important, is really important.
“And yeah, like you said, if I’m in a comparison with Edwin van der Sar, it’s always nice to hear”, the 23-year-old added, expressing pride on comparisons to the Manchester United legendary goalkeeper.
Second half substitute Benjamin Sesko scored the only goal of the game in the second half after a devastating counterattack as Man United maintained their unbeaten league status in 2026.
Lammens also hailed the team’s display in the match as they kept a very important clean sheet and returned to the Champions League spots.
“If you work together, if you defend well, if you don’t give goals away, then we have players up top who can make the difference”, the Belgian goalkeeper added.
“One flash, one counter, and then you can score. And if you keep the zero, then you can win away in this hard game. So, I’m really happy today”, Lammens concluded.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will return to league action on Sunday when they face Crystal Palace, hoping for another win to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
