Authorities have launched an investigation after Thierno Barry claimed that his friends were attacked during Everton’s away fixture against Arsenal in the Premier League.
The incident reportedly occurred in the away section at Emirates Stadium following the Toffees’ 2–0 defeat to the Gunners.
Barry, who came on as a second-half substitute during the match, later took to Instagram to share a video of the altercation and speak out about the situation.
Expressing frustration over what happened, the Everton striker strongly condemned the behaviour of those involved.
“This kind of behaviour is not acceptable in a stadium,” he posted.
“I bring my friends to enjoy a game and it gets ruined by a few silly people.”
Barry also emphasized that football environments should remain safe for everyone attending matches, whether players, fans, or guests.
“Football should be a place where everyone feels safe and respected.
“This type of attitude has no place in the game and is simply not tolerated in football.”
According to the forward, the situation escalated to the point where security intervention became necessary to prevent further trouble inside the stadium.
“My friends and the people who were attacked had to be escorted by the Arsenal club’s security staff as well as the police because of fears of retaliation from our supporters.”
Following the incident, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
Meanwhile, Everton released a statement acknowledging the situation and confirming that the club will cooperate with authorities as they review the matter.
The Merseyside club said they will examine the events carefully and “will work with the relevant authorities to establish the facts and take any appropriate action.”
