Turkish side Trabzonspor have confirmed that Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu will be unavailable for their clash against Alanyaspor this weekend.
The Claret-Blues visit Alanyaspor on Saturday afternoon, hoping to reduce the gap to league leaders Galatasaray, but they will be missing the services of their top forward this weekend.
Onuachu has been in impressive form this season, scoring 24 times across all competitions this season with 22 of those goals coming in the Turkish Super League.
He also leads the golden boot charts, ahead of the likes of Eldor Shomurodov and Victor Osimhen with only a few games left this season.
However, Trabzonspor now confirmed that the Nigerian forward will not be available for their clash on Saturday due to a muscle injury.
“Following an initial assessment of our player Paul Onuachu, who experienced pain and stiffness in the upper anterior thigh muscle group during today’s training session, a muscle injury is suspected, and he has been removed from the Corendon Alanyaspor match squad. Treatment for our player has been started by our medical team,” the club announced.
Onuachu has scored in nine of his last 10 league matches for the club, including in last week’s 2-1 win over Galatasaray which moved them level with second placed Fenerbahce.
Trabzonspor are currently third on the standings, level with Fenerbahce on 63 points and are only four behind Galatasaray with only six games left to play.
Meanwhile, Onuachu is expected to return in time for next weekend’s clash against Istanbul Basaksehir, as they continue to chase a return to the UEFA Champions League ahead of next season.
