Lee Carsley confident Tuchel can bring World cup glory to England

Three Lions interim manager Lee Carsley has expressed confidence in the England squad and expects them to win the world cup under new manager Thomas Tuchel.

German Tuchel who is expected to provide an end to the country’s long wait for a major trophy takes over from Carsley on the 1st of January, 2025 and the outgoing interim boss believes they have the right tool to be victorious.

“I think we are in a good position to do that,” he said. “I think we have the talent to do it.

“We have got all of the tools. We just need to play them in the order.”

Carsley took over from former manager Gareth Southgate who led England to back-to-back European Championship finals and expects the incoming Tuchel to finally end the major tournament victory drought.

“Thomas’ pool of players has increased so we have left the squad in a fantastic position”, added Carsley.

“I have been lucky now to be at the last couple of World Cups and the timing of the players being in form, physically and mentally, at the right time, picking the right squad.”

Under Carsley, England won five out of six games as they clinched promotion back to the top tier of the UEFA Nations league. His last game in charge was a 5-0 demolition of Republic of Ireland.

The 51-year ofd Tuchel comes into the job with high expectations and Carsley has expressed his confidence in the new boss.

‘It needs work. It’s one thing you don’t get with the international camps is time. So we just have to find that balance.”

Thomas Tuchel will be in charge of his first game as England boss in the March international break.
