Former Arsenal striker Van Persie sacked after Feyenoord season review

Robin van Persie has been dismissed as head coach of Feyenoord following the conclusion of the 2025–26 campaign.

The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker returned to the Dutch club as manager in 2025, but his tenure has now ended after Feyenoord finished second in the Eredivisie, 19 points behind champions Ajax.

During his spell in charge, Van Persie recorded 30 wins from 58 matches, but it was not enough to convince the club hierarchy to continue into the new season.

Feyenoord confirmed the decision in a brief statement announcing a change in leadership ahead of the 2026–27 campaign.

“Feyenoord will start the 2026-2027 season with a new head coach. The club would like to thank Robin van Persie for everything he gave during his time as head coach.”

The former Netherlands international now leaves his first major managerial role at the Dutch giants, with speculation likely to follow regarding his next move in coaching after an inconsistent but high-profile stint at De Kuip.
