Italian giants Juventus are reportedly keen on signing Barcelona starman, Ronald Araujo on loan and with option to buy.
Following several reports linking the team to some high profile players in the current transfer window, including Liverpool man, Mohammed Salah, Araujo is reportedly the new man on the Bianconeri’s target list.
The Italian club are desperate to sign at least one new defender in January after losing Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal to ACL injuries for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, club captain Danilo has one foot outside the door after being linked to moves to league rivals, Napoli and Saudi Arabia.
According to Barcelona News Network, the 25-year-old’s future at the Catalan club is shrouded in mystery as he has attracted the interest of several top clubs in Europe.
The Uruguay international just returned to action after spending the last five months on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury. But regaining his slot in Hansi Flick’s lineup might not be easy, with Pau Cubrasi and Inigo Martinez establishing themselves as main options in the back.
Araujo’s contract will expire in June 2026, but with no talks of contract extension in sight, Juventus are looking to capitalise on the opportunity and acquire his signature before the window closes.
However, it might be a tough call, as Araujo is valued at €55 million on Transfermarkt, and Barcelona could even demand more. Moreover, with Martinez ageing and Barcelona still struggling to sign players, the Catalan giants could decide to keep Araujo.
