Italian giants Juventus are reportedly progressing in their negotiations with Barcelona over acquiring the signatures of Uruguayan defender, Ronald Araujo.
According to Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Juventus are prepared for a new round of talks with the Spanish team as the Bianconeri are eager to sign their first defensive reinforcement under head coach, Thiago Motta.
With Juan Cabal and Gleison Bremer sidelined with injury, and Danilo heading towards the exit door following multiple reports of interest from Napoli and Saudi Arabian clubs, the Bianconeri are expected to make some signings to strengthen their backline before the window closes.
According to Fabrizio, Juventus see Araujo as ‘a top priority’ following the Uruguayan’s scintillating performance in the Super Cup, and are looking to explore ‘a permanent deal/ loan with obligation, not straight loan/ with option’.
Araujo has been a key player for the Catalan side since arriving at the Camp Nou in 2020. Known for his terrifying pace and ability to play as both centre-back and right-back, the 25-year old is expected to bring much flair and versatility to the Bianconeri’s defense line.
However, according to Football Italia, uncertainty hinges over the player’s willingness to depart the Spanish side this winter, as Araujo’s entourage has not denied that the Uruguay international could join the Bianconeri this month
