Victor Boniface: Bayer Leverkusen set €50 million asking price for Super Eagles forward

Reigning Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen have set a €50 million asking price for Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface as the club seeks to part ways with the former Bodoe Glimt man.

Boniface was an integral part of Leverkusen’s Bundesliga winning team under Xabi Alonso last term despite only just joining from Union St. Galloise in the same season, with the Nigeria international registering 14 goals and 8 assists in 23 league appearances.

This season though, the 24-year-old striker has seen his involvement diminish with Alonso preferring Patrick Schick up top. Nevertheless, he has put up decent returns, notching seven goals in ten Bundesliga starts.

Sport Bild reports that Die Werkself have now put a definite price on the striker as they are looking to sell him in the summer. The report claims that Leverkusen intend to offload a striker this summer, and with Boniface’s high market value, the club views it as a chance to generate substantial revenue while keeping the squad balanced.

Leverkusen have previously shown willingness to cut ties with the Nigeria international when they approved Al-Nassr’s bid to sign him during the January transfer window. That move eventually collapsed after the Saudi Pro League side suddenly changed their minds and opted to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa instead.

CaughtOffside reports that Chelsea are eyeing a move for Boniface this summer as they assess concerns over the long-term fitness of Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu. The report also claims that the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal are monitoring the Nigerian’s situation.

Boniface has publicly voiced his dislike for the Premier League in the past, revealing that he would rather play in the La Liga. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be able to resist the allure of playing in what many call the ‘best league in the world’ if the chance comes.
