Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahce have dismissed reports of a huge offer for AC Milan forward Rafael Leao this summer.
Leao’s future had been uncertain since the end of last season after he publicly revealed his desire to explore a move elsewhere.
Additionally, the appointment of former Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim to replace Massimiliano Allegri has cast further doubts over his future at the club.
The Yellow Canaries have been linked with a move for the Portuguese forward ahead of next season, before reports emerged that they made a bid worth €100 million to AC Milan.
However, they have now come out to deny that report and have reaffirmed their focus solely on their UEFA Champions League qualifying round clash against Polish side Gornik Zabrze.
“Claims that we made an offer of approximately 100 million Euros for Rafael Leao, including transfer fee and salary, are untrue,” Fenerbahce said in a statement.
“No such offer has been made to the player or his club.
“Our sole focus is on our return match against Gornik Zabrze in the UEFA Champions League 2nd Qualifying Round and advancing to the next round.”
Fenerbahce finished second in the Super Lig last season behind champions Galatasaray, who won a fourth straight league crown, and are now competing in the qualifying rounds for the Champions League.
Anderson Talisca scored the only goal of the first leg win over Gornik Zabrze on Tuesday, with the return leg set to hold on July 29 at the Arena Zabrze.
The winner of that tie on aggregate will advance to the third qualifying round, as they aim to return to the UCL for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
