Kyle Walker has revealed the cause for his transfer to Burnley after an eight-year stint at Manchester City.
Last season, the seasoned full-back spent the second half on loan at AC Milan. Before completing a £5 million move to Burnley under Scott Parker this summer, he made sixteen appearances for the Serie A team.
Walker admitted that the necessity of a family setting significantly influenced his choice as he considered it.
“At this stage of my career, being at a great club [Manchester City] for a number of years,” he remarked. “I went overseas [AC Milan] and tried that out, but I just felt I needed something that was a family club.”
The England international also disclosed a personal connection that aided to confirm his decision.
He added: “I’ve been around the place [Burnley] and my son is training at the training ground. You can feel the aura around there and what the owners are trying to do, and I wanted to be a part of that. I want to be a part of the success.”
The 35-year-old brings leadership and experience to the Parker’s team as they get ready for a new test under their gaffer.
